Nervous System Therapy
When you’re ready to move beyond insight and create lasting change.
Why can’t I talk my way out of this?
YOU’VE UNDERSTOOD YOUR PATTERNS FOR YEARS, BUT YOU STILL FEEL STUCK.
What you’re noticing now is what hasn’t fully shifted — difficulty staying present, chronic overthinking, emotional flatness, or the feeling of recognizing your life more than fully experiencing it. This is where nervous system-based therapies (therapies that focus not only on what you are saying, but also how your body is responding in real time) can become especially relevant.
Ly Franshaua Pipkins, PsyD specializes in nervous system-based therapy, serving clients online across CA, offering relationship-centered therapy that gets to the root of emotional challenges.
Nervous system-based therapy allows your brain and body to access what talking alone can’t—move past the patterns that keep holding you back.
NERVOUS SYSTEM BASED THERAPY CAN HELP:
Trauma & painful experiences
Distressing memories and images
Anxiety, fears, and phobias
Feeling reactive to small things
Anger and irritability
Feeling disconnected
Grief and loss
Guilt about the past
HOW IT WORKS
Your memories don't have to be so distressing. Nervous system Therapy can help you rewrite your story.
Memories create connections between different parts of your brain, and sometimes, these connections aren't fully processed. This can leave us with upsetting memories that linger and cause pain. Through nervous system-based therapy, we complete the processing of troubling experiences, integrating them, and even transforming them into positive ones. They become facts of your past that no longer hold power over you.
You don’t need to recount the details of your difficult life experiences if you don't want to. You're in control of the process, while I guide you through it. I will help you identify triggering images and sensations and over time replace them with positive ones. Once the negative bits are integrated, most clients find relief from irritability and intrusive thoughts. You will be able to remember the facts without the pain.
Beyond our sessions, I’ll teach you tools to take home. These tools will empower you to continue the healing process on your own, helping you manage your emotions, calm your nerves and alleviate anxiety.
With nervous system-based therapy, we rewrite the story of your experiences, clearing the path to better communication, parenting, relationships, and connections. It's a transformative intervention that puts you back in control of your life, with the support and guidance you need every step of the way.
My services are available online across CA, making it convenient for you to access care no matter your situation.
HOW WE’LL WORK TOGETHER
We’ll start with an in-depth intake session. This will give me an opportunity to learn more about you and your goals, answer any questions you have, and co-create a plan to track your progress throughout our work together.
You choose the format that works best for you:
-
If you prefer to make progress steadily over time, we can meet weekly for 45-minute sessions. This format offers consistent support and space to work through longstanding patterns at a pace that feels manageable and sustainable.
-
If you have recently experienced a traumatic event, meeting twice per week for 45-minute sessions may provide additional support during the early stages of treatment. This more frequent schedule can help create greater stability and momentum as you begin processing what has happened.
You do not have to spend the rest of your life managing the same patterns that once helped you survive.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Nervous system-based therapy recognizes that healing doesn't happen through insight alone. It also involves helping your brain and body feel safe enough to respond differently. In addition to talking, we pay attention to how stress, emotions, and physical sensations show up in real time, creating opportunities for lasting change.
-
Traditional talk therapy often focuses on understanding your thoughts, emotions, and past experiences. Nervous system-based therapy includes that work while also paying attention to how your body is responding. By working with both mind and body, therapy can help you move beyond understanding your patterns to experiencing them differently.
-
You may notice that you overthink everything, stay constantly on guard, feel emotionally numb, or have difficulty relaxing even when life is going well. You might understand your patterns intellectually but still find yourself reacting in ways you wish you could change. These can all be signs that your nervous system has learned to stay in protective patterns.
