Frequently Asked Questions

What are your fees?

My standard fee is $300 for a 45-minute psychotherapy session. I work with a small private practice caseload to support steady, longer-term therapeutic work that has room to deepen over time.

I have also curated a list of resources and low-cost therapy options that you can find here.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network (OON) provider and can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company. Many clients with OON benefits receive partial reimbursement, depending on their specific plan.

What is Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is a document that provides you with a clear breakdown of the expected costs of your therapy sessions. It is part of the No Surprises Act, designed to help clients better understand and plan for the financial aspects of their care. Learn more here.

Who can schedule a consultation?

I specialize in working with adults age 18+. For individual services (including assessments and ongoing therapy), each client seeking care must personally schedule and attend the initial free consultation and provide consent. Consultations cannot be completed by a parent, partner, or other third party on someone else’s behalf.

For couples or relationship work, all participants must attend the consultation together.

What is a consultation like with you?

A free 15-minute phone consultation is a calm, welcoming conversation where we talk briefly about what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping to shift, and whether my approach feels like the right fit; there’s no commitment, just space to ask questions and get a sense of what support could feel like. You can request a free consultation here.

Where do you offer therapy and assessments?

Sessions and evaluations are held by secure, HIPAA-compliant phone or video.

What is your cancellation policy?

Most clients are scheduled for weekly therapy. In practice, this usually means three sessions per month, as I typically take one week each month off for professional development and do not hold sessions during that week. You will always receive advance notice.

Your session time is reserved specifically for you, and the full fee is charged whether or not you attend. Each client receives one courtesy cancellation per 52-week period for each weekly session held (e.g., twice-weekly clients receive two per year).

When possible, you may request a make-up session during the week before, the week of, or the week after a missed appointment, pending availability. You are never charged for sessions I cancel.

All other cancellations are charged at the full session fee.

What can I expect in the first few therapy sessions?

In our early sessions, we move at a steady pace to help you feel grounded and oriented in the work. We’ll begin with an initial assessment to understand your history, needs, and goals, and we’ll review confidentiality, privacy, and any practice policies so you know exactly what to expect. We also spend time helping your nervous system settle, so you can feel safe and supported as we begin the therapeutic process.

Who do you work with?

I specialize in working with adults (18+) . My practice is queer-affirming and culturally rooted.

How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Research from the American Psychological Association (APA) shows that many clients begin experiencing meaningful improvement within 12–18 weekly sessions, especially for acute concerns. Some evidence-based models are designed for about 12–16 sessions, while others continue longer depending on your goals, history, and the depth of the work.

In practice, many clients choose to stay beyond the initial 3–4 months to support more complete healing, integrate new skills, or continue deeper emotional and mind–body work. We will check in together about your progress and adjust the pace as needed to support sustained growth.

Do you see children and or families?

I specialize in working with adults (18+) and do not see children or families. If you're seeking care for a young person or a family system, I’m always happy to recommend local resources that may be a better fit.

How do I book a consultation?

A consultation is not a commitment to therapy — it’s simply a chance for us to connect and see whether working together feels right. You can request a free 15-minute phone consultation here, where we’ll talk briefly about what’s bringing you in and what kind of support you’re looking for.
